KLyX was flying after a few months, so it's hard to set a limit.
Obviously, it depends on how many people join the effort.

But if I'm pressed to give an estimate, I'd say that we have
the first functional port in a year, assuming that development
will go faster once the new kernel has landed.

On the other hand, I'm sure that we would have fast progress
once the first hard problem of getting LyX to link to a different
toolkit is solved.  When that is done, the job is reduced to
turn-off-brain-and-port-lots-of-code-mode, and that can be
done asynchronously by many different people.

So I hope that GTK+ will introduce the feature we need at some
point.  Therefore, it would be grand if somebody would bother to
subscribe to the GTK+ list, and post a feature request to them.
