I think so too. I was simply following the rubric used in report.cls/sty
but it did not seem to fill any need. I'll delete it.

I'll try. The problem was that I really did not understand much of what
was going on in the report.cls that I mangled, so  proceded very
cautiously.

Yes. One of my objectives was to demonstrate that LyX was not _just_ a
technical document system. I'm working on broadway.cls
