I have a Sun workstation with two screens.
On Solaris 2.5.1 I generated a lyx that is perfectly running when the
DISPLAY variable is set to "myhost:0", but it crashes when it is set
to "myhost:0.1", i.e. the other screen is selected.
The output is:
lyx

Current serieal number in output stream: 2393
If you cannot reproduce the error yourself, I am perfectly willing to
send you the backtrace you ask for.
Although - as a longterm LaTeX user who wants to convince his team of
LaTeX's superiority - I just now came accross LyX and do not have made
any larger experience with it, I would like to congratulate you to
your marvelous "front end"
