Um... No. I've used LaTeX in the manuals ... sparringly, mind you.
But there are times when you NEED to do so, 'cuz LyX just don't do all
of LaTeX yet. Example: \begin{sloppypar} ... \end{sloppypar} There
are times when you *have* to use this. Multicols is another example.
Enough ERT-bashing, already. LyX ain't gonna duplicate LaTeX in all
of its functionality --- PERIOD! Ergo, you WILL need LaTeX mode from
time to time.
OTOH, the "->" should NOT turn into ERT in the manuals.
