It should be read as:

   I have introduced by hand, in the lyx file, an optional argument for
\ref, and those were the places where lyx had problems, with the present
code.

  SGMLTools 2.0 is a self-contained package that has included all the
necessary packages to create docbook documents, and processing them.
  There are available others packages to process docbook, but IMHO SGMLTools
is the most complete.

  sgmltools --backend=foo doc.sgml

  where foo is the available backend to transform the docbook document. In a
simple way is this, it is also possible to change the stylesheets to change
the final output, but that is another story...
