The meaning of the word 'Keep' does not necessarily imply that
meaning.  Witness my confusion and Larry's confusion as to what this
thing does.  'Force' is probably better.

FYI:  The \vspace* and \hspace* ensure that the corresponding space
always appears, regardless of where it might be.  The un-*-ed versions
permit LaTeX to make a judgement call:  if the space happens to
overlap a pagebreak or linebreak, LaTeX will omit the space.

\vfill is equivalent to \vspace{\fill}, IIRC.  So, VFills will
occasionally disappear on you.
