Hello,

(Assume many smiley's in this message - I know it isn't Friday, but it
feels like it ...)

Asger has graciously put version 1.0a of the LGT online. It really should
be v1.1, but I didn't think it was going to be as much work as it turned
out to be.

Changes:

1) An alert reader pointed out that I misspelled "beautiful" on the Math
page. I took advantage of this error to demonstrate the spellchecker, as
someone else wished. I had to change only 5 screenshots instead of 10 as a
result. Still a pain in the butt, but only one cheek instead of two.

2) Many of you whined about having the "next" and "previous" guide words
too small. That was intentional - I wanted you to force you to read the
pages. Besides, you all found them, didn't you? Otherwise, you wouldn't be
whining. Anyway, I caved in an made them 2 sizes larger. I have not added
cutesy little arrows; I do have some dignity (and no cutesy little
arrows).

3) I showed that at least footnotes can be collapsed.

4) Widened the tables to 90% width instead of 80%.

Let me know if there are any other problems. Almost all the changes are on
the last page, so head there to see the bulk of them.

BTW, someone commented about the LGT showing up too low on the main Web
page. How about the following addition: in the main 1.0.0 release
paragraph, why not change it to

LyX version 1.0 has a few new features since version 0.12.0, including
importing LaTeX files. Compared to the more widely released 0.10.7,
version 1.0 is an immense improvement. Lots and lots of new features have
been added, speed has improved, documentation has been rewritten basically
from scratch -- the list of improvements is too long to mention here.
Check out the WHATSNEW and CHANGES files in the distribution, or look at
the Features page. If you are completely new to LyX or haven't used it in
a long time, take the <Graphical Tour> to get a feel for how LyX 1.0.0
works.

One possible solution ...
