Yes I see, your project is the fast and easy LyX user configuration of
LaTeX docs. My approach is more simplistic:
Write layouts (like 'alfanumber.cls'; alfanum.cls is obsolete,
destroyed that long ago, sorry) which make the preformatted rigid LaTeX
classes operational in LyX. I think if need be, it would be easier to
write parallel extended classes or meta-classes for use in LyX which
include those of CTAN and allow the most necessary modifications with
simple menu options or shortcuts.

Yes, fascinates me that You are fascinated like other LaTeXperts are; I
recently looked into old Hegel's 'Phänomenologie des Geistes': Now I
can assure You all:
They are TeXnical standard in academic typesetting at least since
1807. Somebody apparently has forgotten something...
