Another superior feature for the proposed "latexconf" facility would be the
ability to create defined terms. I'm imagining a *LyX* entry field, in
which you could enter either text formatted using LyX's ordinary set of
Layout tools, or even enter ERT, with LyX outputing interpreted LaTeX into
a \def\VAR1{ } in the preamble. You'd then need a new Insert->Defined
Term function, to insert \VAR1, etc., where desired. The Insert->Defined
Term command could bring up a menu showing variable names and a "comment"
the user added to describe it when created..
I just *have* to point out that such a facility --- which would basically
stick ERT in the LaTeX preamble --- could even function as a (much easier
to code?) solution to our ERT widget problem. Think about it.
