See below (I can send you my message again if you did not get it/lost
it).

Martin> Anyway, I am rather lost now. So how to continue?

Martin> 1. Which text to use as basis for further work. Mine, or
Martin> Larry's?

Yours, of course. I think the latest version is pretty good and was
rather surprised to see Larry qualify it as 'weak'...

Martin> 2. Document processor. Yes/no?

Yes.

Martin> 3. Mention Linux and Open Source. (LyX AND LaTeX) Yes. (But
Martin> remember, LyX is not ONLY for Linux).

I think we should insist on open source, and only mention linux. We
certainly should not put the emphasis on linux.

Martin> 4. Comparison with Word and WP -- hesitant.

I am hesitant about the principle, but the paragraph is
interesting. You could change the beginning to ``Compared to classical
Word Processors like WordPerfect or Microsoft Word,...''.

Martin> 5. "No familiarity" disclaimer. OK. How then?

What I'd like to see is something which presents positively the LaTeX
interaction, in particular to tell LaTeX users that they *can* use
their favourite dirty tricks and are not restricted by LyX.

OK, to sum up, here is what *I* (I can't talk for others) think you
could take from Larry's comments (just going through my message to him
and summing up):

- talk about open source a lot (but not too much, we don't want too
  much hype)
- add the bit about WP and Word (if it does not take too much precious
  space).
- in a related subject, the paragraph beginning with ``You set the
ground rules...'' is interesting, but I like what you had too. It
could maybe be merged with the WP&W stuff.
- add a proeminent plug for the LGT and bug Lars (or Asger) until they
  put it online.
- make sure that the text is acceptable to LaTeX-types. Unless we
choose to send only the more technical ANNOUNCE file to
comp.text.tex. It would of course be very nice to have a technical
latex centric announce (with a list of all supported packages and
  features), but that's much work.

Don't despair. It will be over after Feb 1, after all :)
