About this: I one received a Word document for a colleague, a Ph.D. and very
competent in his field, but not exactly at home with computers, even if using
them all the time. Hates Unix.
The headers were done manually: Just "normal" style, numbers added in front,
and painted and made bold and a little bit bigger...
Then, in the TOC, he had used the same technique (writing it by hand as the
TOC function of Word didn't know about the headers of course!). The result:
the headers in the TOC renumbered themselves in completely unpredictable ways,
as Word is supposed to be "intelligent" with this...
Shortly after, I did a little poll in a meeting with collegues, and HALF
admitted to all the time doing this, and not even feeling ashamed!
Let's never underestimate the depths of ignorance out there.
Appears I have some thinking to do this evening.
