I already have my nose into the Fedora template working on some patches.
I see no problem with doing that.  In fact, there should be no conflict
in setting both files since earlier versions would ignore /etc/hostname
and systemd really doesn't care if it exists in both.  My upgraded
Fedora systems, now running F17 having been upgraded from F14 and
earlier, are running quite nicely and assigning the proper name
from /etc/sysconfig/network, so systemd seems to be compatible with
each.

I can add that as part of my patches.
