I had this question, and considered seeing if I could peruse all of the
archives to ascertain their usefulness.

I filter everything and would have probably made folders for many if those
without much need to, so I'm glad you addressed this.

As it stands I'm only subscribed to 'announce' and 'main' at this time which,
based on your assessment seems the prudent choice for me.

I'm actually in SoCal and no longer maintain an office presence in Melbourne,
but with respect to topical discussions, Linux is without a doubt a globally
universal community anyway - LUGs enable people in various locales to assemble
face to face and one of the greatest advantages is (in Ham radio terms) enabled
neighborhood based "Elmering" for n00bs and aficionados alike in a comfortable,
have to face setting.

On another note, since the FOSS community has been blessed with the streaming
capabilities of software like OBS, Peertube, Matrix, Jitsti, and BBB; even
physical have to face meetings can be attended by anyone, anywhere.

Having said that, a few days ago I was going to share that Steve Litt, of
OCLUG, and more recently, GOLUG, had an upcoming presentation on Rust to have
been broadcast over Jitsti, but unfortunately he has to reschedule at the last
minute due to work related issues.

I'm not sure if he's doing this at the next meeting or the one after that, but
I can certainly forward the information if that sounds relevant. It will be
totally Linux based, and who uses Windows 11 anyway? (Rhetorical question).

I'm sure he'd be happy to have more attendees.

One thing I think is of paramount importance, is for any website schedules to
appear as being current and maintained - many LUGs don't seem to keep them
updated and when n00bs see that, they may not realize that irrespective of
that, there's actually a vibrant and welcoming community for them.

Anyway, I'm good either way you go with the list management, yet happy with
only having to maintain the two subscriptions I currently have.

Kindest regards,

Bradley
