I'm looking into the possibility of getting some cheap phones that can run Debian for the purpose of development. The aim is to pay less than $20 per phone, hopefully less than $15. They almost certainly won't support VoLTE so probably won't be useful for regular phone tasks. But for taking notes, being a pocket size ssh client, being a more secure Internet client system than an Android phone, and for Debian development they will be quite useful. The specs will generally be low, like 2G of RAM and 720p display - like a desktop PC 20 years ago.

The phone I'm looking at for the lowest price is the Moto G4 Play. I'm going to get a few spare ones to lend out as well. But if anyone wants one of their own then let me know ASAP.

I'm also getting some better phones for my own use (more RAM, higher resolution screen, and the possibility of VoLTE) which will cost around $70. If someone wants one then let me know ASAP and I'll see if I can arrange it.
