Amazing, this is disgusting behaviour and very detrimental to OSS and
more broadly.

I don't think you should attribute to malice what can be explained by
incompetence.
And here I am referring to the report.
Perhaps the writer did not know enough about the topic to venture deeper
into explaining
what happened. Or perhaps he/she did not have the time to read the whole
blog post; people
who work for sites where daily updates are needed work to fairly
exacting deadlines.
Note that the story was published close to noon, a time at which most
sites send out their
daily newsletters.
This kind of simplification happens very often with stuff about Linux as
well; I notice
it because I am the oddball journo who does use Linux.
I will write a report about this shortly and correctly reflect what
happened.
