Thankyou all for responses.
As implied I am a casual, domestic hobbyist - who lives in a Windows and
Apple free house (except for a work laptop).
The setup was originally thought about but has evolved piecemeal
(now Heath Robinsonist)
We have a house move this week, and I have found the new property does
not support the way my home network is currently wire - mostly due to
unimplemented things on my 'I'm going to' list.
I am reminded of the expression
"Lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an
emergency on mine"
but the number of people from this list who have responded to me is
fantastic.
I now have two solutions to address my current 'crisis' and a lot of
encouragement to do a proper review of my setup.
Again thankyou - particularly for the latter.
I will be going off-line, maybe for a couple of days. (I
underestimated how long it takes to get a ADSL connection set up)
Any additional comments or suggestions will be appreciated - but later.
Again many thanks,
Hugh
