Hi Rohan
Assembled Cogniscenti
Just wondering if anyone is using 3D modelling software;
eg https://www.pannam.com/blog/best-3d-cad-modeling-software/
because I know nothing about such !
A friend was dubious when I suggested
FreeCAD eg https://www.freecadweb.org/
-zero dollars
-open source
-MacOS, Windows,Linux
as an alturnative to
SolidWorks eg https://www.solidworks.com/
- >1000 dollars
-proprietary closed source
-Windows only
This 100% depends on your usage case.
FreeCAD is free and does a good job of individual model, but assembles
the last time I look as not good.
SolidWorks is amazing a total package but its not >$1000 its more than
>$10000 and features like CAM add a lot more.
Fusion360 is an option my family business uses F360 with paid licenses
which are <$1000 a year, we have good CAM and CAD. But the assembles
are limited to about 600 components before it slows down. The free
license does most things with a few limits. CAM works but limits the
speed of fast moves and is 2.5D only.
Thanks Mike from above URL I notice:
".....A cloud-powered 3D CAD software tool for product engineers, Fusion
360 is a 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE tool in a league of its own. Fusion 360
connects the entire product development process in a single cloud-based
platform that works on Macs and PCs......"
Not for Linux though ?

Cheers
Mike
