openbve on Linux is a Mono application. Wouldn't surprise me if it was C# too. It does appear though that Open Rails requires Microsoft Train Simulator, and I imagine that might be a stumbling point. See http://www.openrails.org/files/installation_guide_en.pdf, not under "System Requirements", where you might expect, but "Installation Procedure".
