Latest update . . . "humpty" replied to my topic on Discourse with
"solution" to the problem being a lack of "sddm-greeter" package in
Lubuntu and a suggested command to "symlink" a command to get the
suspend applet in the display manager . . . and to post on the sddm
github list-serve to get some upstream attention . . . .  I did both,
the suspend button is now functional, and so far no response on the
sddm forum.

Reason for posting, as mentioned before, trying to get the
Discourse.lubuntu.me site to load has not been successful for several
weeks now . . . trying across a number of linux distros and browsers .
. . can't post the "solved" to the thread . . . can't get it to load
beyond the 4 flashing dots . . . .

Over on openSUSE that also uses Discourse for their forum . . . no
problems with it.
