AG: OK, haven't had time to check and see if "advanced options" will give me a choice of older kernel, and then checking to see if that would restore the optical drive function. I'm just reporting "stuff that shows up" in the 18.04 install . . . it's a lonely job, but someone has to do it . . . <snif> <cough> . . . .
