Lu Users: I'm still trying to keep my PPC computers going, although each of them is having one kind of problem or another . . . . The G4 iBook is where I have Lu 16.04 installed and generally the iBook is "OK" except it looks like the HD is starting to go "pre-failure" on us.
The iBook is dual-boot with OSX 10.4 on one side of a 40 GB HD . . . I have the OSX side cloned to an ext HD via Carbon Copy Cloner . . . and I've noticed in other ubuntu-esque installs I have there has been a "Back-up" package installed . . . I believe in U-MATE 16.04, but right now my PowerMac Sawtooth is not booting so I can't try it out--but looking through the Lu list I didn't see anything named "Back up." I ran a Synaptic search from the Lu and it showed a bunch of packages, including Clonezilla, and rsync . . . I don't have many files that would need to be "saved" . . . what I would like would be a "clone" of the present install, so that I wouldn't have to remember the boot params and run a fresh install . . . but, would like to make a clone of the Lubuntu side of the HD on an ext HD, then when I would need to install a new HD I could boot from the clone and move the install back into a partition of the new HD . . . . Not sure if that would work as easily as it does from CCC, and/or whether the GRUB data would carry over, but, it might be a time saver if it can be done via some package???? Thanks, F
