Dear list, I'm having trouble using the tar command:
/tmp/1 » ls 20160727_04_inside_the_black_box_01_exponent_consulting.mp3 inside_the_black_box_archive.tar /tmp/1 » tar --verbose --concatenate --file=inside_the_black_box_archive.tar 20160727_04_inside_the_black_box_01_exponent_consulting.mp3 \ && tar --list --file inside_the_black_box_archive.tar 20160309_04_inside_the_black_box_00_science_parade.mp3 20160309_04_inside_the_black_box_01_science_parade.mp3 20160504_04_inside_the_black_box_01_cinematography.mp3 20160504_04_inside_the_black_box_00_cinematography.mp3 tar: Skipping to next header tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors I'm trying to put a file on an existing non corrupted tar archive. I tried to use 'append', 'update' and 'concatenate' with no success. The tar file does grow in size but does not show neither extracts the 'appended' file. Which command should I use? All of my google search indicates that the syntax is correct. The GUI drag and drop functionality does it correctly.
