It's a known issue in Xubuntu and Lubuntu 16.04. I'm not sure, but I guess
there is a definite fix, but there's also a work-around: Going to tty1 and
getting back to tty7 using the following shortcuts:

Ctrl-Alt-F1
Ctrl-Alt-F7
