Hi Tom, Maybe the problem is not LVM and encryption, but the graphics driver or the wifi driver. Maybe something else.
Please specify your computer - Brand name and model - CPU - RAM (size) - graphics chip/card - wifi chip/card It will make it easier to give relevant advice. Can you install Lubuntu without encryption?
