Hi Marc, I'm glad cloning with Clonezilla works for you :-)
If you create an OEM install, it will be straightforward to create unique systems after the installation. That might be an alternative in the future. See this link https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ubuntu_OEM_Installer_Overview If the prepared method does not work, I know a fairly simple was to work around such issues, that works with some community re-spins of Ubuntu (but at least when I tested last time, the prepared method worked with Lubuntu and Xubuntu).
