@Is: Appreciate the reply, well, that's what I was wondering, if it "works" to cut the installed DE's out w/o messing things up. Thanks for the insight on JWM, happy to look into that, I think we "spoke" about this before, or something that was waiting for PPC config . . . .
Got a few too many things going right now, trying to resurrect an old POwerMac for home desktop use, still running OS9.0 . . . so, for now I'm going to try to work with the MATE install on the iBook, see if I can get sound, somehow get the fan to run less . . . . Nothing is "permanent" . . . especially in linux, so it's all about the learning curve, the more I try to do, the more I learn . . . and that carries over to the "next" install, etc. But, I'll give you a jingle when I get a moment to try out your offering in the realm of lightness . . . . Or, flip me a link whenever it's ready for Beta level testing. : - ) No skillz for Alpha . . . .
