Hi, I can confirm that lubuntu 14.10 alternate i386 runs on this computer, using kernel module agpart-intel for graphics.
First I had to install RAM and replace the DVD writer with a CD-ROM drive. Then the install CD-R kept on hanging just after the "scanning CD-ROM" screen appeared. Tried it with a USB memory stick, same failure. So eventually, at the point of failure, I pressed CTRL+ALT+F2 to get myself a command line prompt. Then I typed in dmesg and dmesg | grep -i error. The last error messages were from the kernel complaining about the floppy disk drive. So I had a look, and, behind the Dell's front panel, there was no floppy disk to be found. So I went into the BIOS and disabled the floppy disk drive. After that the installation went smoothly and succeeded.
