I marked this bug as affecting me too, and posted additional information
that might be helpful in solving it.
It is particularly troubling that 14.10 aborts loading the system on
getting a render from the internal Intel graphics card - even though it
is disabled in the BIOS setup.
It is disabled so that the NVIDIA PCI graphics card is used instead,
which works on releases up until 14.10.
I also have the same problem with the ubuntuMATE live DVD on this machine.
