I'm surprised by this comment. LXQt is the future of Lubuntu. The near
future. Could you elaborate more on the specifics of your concern?

My apologies, I have no test data to confirm my guess from loading
complex web pages that LXDE may be the fastest .
On my old desktop (AMD Sempron 3400+ with 2 GB RAM and integrated
NVIDIA video card - only running on the NVIDIA driver), I have (had)
installed several distros with DTEs amongst which LXDE and Xfce, and
now also LXQt 0.7.0 up to 0.8.0 on L.14.04. LXQt does impress with
fast menu and window interface, and for me there are no concerns about
its future role for Lubuntu. As a user, I keep following its progression.
Anyway, the trouble with all distros on such a marginal old system as
I have kept is the graphic loading. YouTube video in high resolutions
is no option, although I have got 120Mbps cable .
