Well, it's quite easy to make a specific configuration by using a specific lxsession session. You can look at http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-default-settings/trunk/files to see how we make sessions on Lubuntu. For example, http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-default-settings/trunk/view/head:/etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu-Netbook/desktop.conf is the configuration for the Netbook session (a netbook optimized session for Lubuntu). You don't really need a script for this, a simple package which install the configuration files, and the depends on your additional applications, and it should work. I can try to make an example this week-end, so people can make their own session if they want based on this example.
