This is only possible in the application you are using. 
So in audacious you can change the sound output to use the usb speakers. 
If the applications does not provide such an option you have to change the 
default alsa output device like described here: 
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Asoundrc
To my knowledge there is no other possible way with alsa. 
You could always install pulseaudio which has a nice graphical routing tool 
called pavucontrol and allows you to set and save sound configurations for 
particulary devices and applications
