I just installed the Xenial image on my iBook G4. So far it is running really well. I installed a few apps such as mpv and smtube to see how well video playback is performing. So far it looks good.
One issue I ran into was 3D acceleration is still broken. In the mesa release notes it was stated that the issue with the radeon r300 driver was resolved, but it looks like it is not. Everything else is looking pretty well on my PPC machine Herminio
