If particular session manager causes a problem that others don't, there are two possible causes: 1. The session manager changed to be incompatible with the guest session 2. Vice versa
I'm not sure how I can determine which is the cause, but lightdm's guest session is not playing well with recent versions of lxsession in Lubuntu.
