I encountered this problem while testing an iso a few months ago--the sliders seemed to work, but the continue button grayed out. If I let the installer automatically chose the size of the partitions, which was always about 50% of the available space, then the installation would continue normally.

It looks like one work-around is to first use Gparted before starting
the installation.  That has an option to resize/move partitions.
