I think there is already a bug filed, but I had trouble finding it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1058641 I don't see anything on the release page: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/13.10/release/ Maybe it is lower down on the list of known PPC issues: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCKnownIssues but the soluton listed there is much more verbose that the minimum needed to boot.
