Yes, if you log in via the console and then edit yaboot.conf to contain the appropriate kernel options, then it boots just fine to a functioning desktop. Where you have this: image=/boot/vmlinux label=Linux read-only initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="quiet splash" modify last line to something like this append="quiet splash video=radeonfb:1280x854-32@60" but using the appropriate values for your system. Then run ybin to set the changes. However, messing with yaboot using either method is not something reasonable to expect of people installing.
