The last update contained a new kernel, but the freeze still occurs. $ uname -a Linux lubuntu 3.11.0-6-generic #12-Ubuntu SMP Mon Sep 9 15:56:19 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux It can happen as seldom as once or twice a day but always entails losing whatever I have worked on since last save (which usually isn't much). Also in Lubuntu (LXDE) that also means losing window positions and content. As far as I can tell it happens any time but has happened about 4 times when installing an app from the repository and 3 times when shutting down for the day. alt-sysrq-reisub has the effect described above.
