Cold-booting / powercycling is necessary to get past that step. Steps: - boot from Live CD image - select Try Lubuntu without installing - install Lubuntu anyway - try to reboot after installation is complete Also, once the new system is running, the icon in the far right of the task bar claims to allow reboot but nothing happens when it is selected. If I got to a either a terminal or a console and enter 'sudo reboot' it obeys immediately.
