Hi, I've taken a quick look at the disc image for the Alternate PPC installer.
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/270/builds/44083/testcases/1438/results/ One of the first things to get past will be bug 1066435 powerpc: "Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed!" The installation seems to go smoothly, but the system fails during booting.
