Great, an update should appear if you are using Lubuntu Staging PPA, could you test it and see if it's working now ?
Also, according to my researches, it may also affect powerpc users with G4. Did anyone with this hardware have a problem playing anything with gnome-mplayer (with mplayer2 installed) ?
