That sounds somewhat like what Ubuntu does by default. In Ubuntu I always
change the behavior so I'm aware of security updates almost immediately when
they hit the US mirror.

During development it's often hard to figure out what the intended behavior is
because we mostly update manually at least once a day, or at least I do.

I just wanted to find out before release what the plan is. I'd personally think
we should get some kind of notification of security updates within 24 hours of
them hitting our chosen mirrors.

Does that make sense?

I don't know if the update-notifier is enabled by default (it's a small script
or something that checks once a day/week for new updates), but otherwise a
quick boot up of update-manager and letting it check manually would suffice.

P.s. I usually run "sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade" in a terminal

I just wonder what the update notification plan is for Precise. I know we're
still in development but I'm curious. How will we be notified of updates,
particularly security updates?

PS: I really can't effectively express just how impressed I am with Lubuntu's
new look, it's just great. Everyone involved in our development deserves a
robust round of applause!
