Nizam VII of Hyderabad the forgotten great hero of history... is the fifth all time rich guy in the world... Nizam is the fifth all time rich man in the world according to the Forbes list. Bill Gates the richest in the world today is 20th. You can imagine.But when he was throned, the State of Hyderabad was penniless and indebted. It was in tatters.
It was the genius of this guy to spring back from the depths of poverty to the riches unimaginable and making his State one of the best governed Welfare Sate with peace and prosperity for all. The biggest budget was on education followed by infrastructure development and industries. And the development that took place is for all to see till today. The infrastructure projects of roads and buildings and the water and electricity projects then executed for a population of a million in the city of Hyederabad (ref. Time February 22, 1937) still serve an exploding population of well over 10 million (crore and more). He helped one and all in the world including Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan (Stanely Wolpert in Jinnah of Pakistan). His grants to educational institutions were legendary. There was no institution in the world particularly in the undivided India that did not receive his grant and he gave it to all regardless of religion and affiliations. All this he accomplished in a very short time, in less than a generation.
