Thought someone on this list might be able to answer Matt's questions regarding gcc and the loongson processor.
I have talked to ICT compiler team for this work. I thing situation will be better soon.

Subject: [loongson-dev] gcc loongson vector intrinsics
To: loongson-dev@googlegroups.com <mailto:loongson-dev@googlegroups.com>

Hi,

gcc's support for loongson vector intrinsics is very bad. Consider gcc
bugs 42951, 48068, 48348.

There's no way to generate instructions like and, or, xor, shift that
operate on full 64-bit doublewords without using inline assembly.

Is anyone working on fixing this? Where are the Lemote developers?

(Also, to my knowledge gcc-4.5 doesn't even compile on mipsel/n64: gcc
bug 45941)

Matt
