I wouldn't say so, if you use the quad-core desktop to browse the web or listen to music (which is often the case). I don't think the point here was to say that quad-cores x86 are useless. They are no more useless than powerfull 4-wheel drive vehicles. Yet, 4x4 vehicles that are prevalent in most modern cities are somewhat of a waste, aren't they ?
