* Dear all, I am writing to bring to your attention an initiative I am
organising, sponsored by an Arts and Humanities Diversity and Inclusion
grant by King’s College London. The LogIn Project is a podcast celebrating
and showcasing research conducted in logic and formal philosophy by people
coming from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Logic/formal
philosophy as a field is impacted by the lack of diversity characteristic
of both mathematics and philosophy: as a result, the lack of role models,
and social/cultural factors may make it feel unwelcoming as a field of
study for historically marginalised groups. LogIn Project wishes to
overcome this by creating a virtual inclusive community centred around
logic, to give students the opportunity to become passionate about logic
and feel welcomed by the discipline. The podcast will interview brilliant
researchers who either represent diverse role models or conduct their
research outside of the Western curriculum. This way, the project gives
space to the many faces of logic and to the many ways this wonderful
discipline can be explored. In addition, LogIn Project aims to share
knowledge about an alternative way of doing logic. A diverse logic reading
list will be created, and the project will advertise opportunities
dedicated to historically marginalised groups within the field. Our
confirmed speakers for the next few months will be: - Anand Vaidya -
Jonathan O. Chimakonam - Diana Carolina Montoya The first episode (Anand
Vaidya) is out now, and you can find it
