MIND 2021 Graduate Essay Prize

MIND and Oxford University Press are pleased to announce a new MIND
Graduate Essay Prize. The winner of the prize will have their essay
published in MIND, and will receive a cash prize of £500 and also £500
worth of OUP books.

The subject area for the 2021 essay competition is the Philosophy of
Logic. We welcome essays on any topic within this area. Entries will
be assessed with regard to excellence, originality, and interest. No
topic, school, or style of philosophy is excluded.

All entries will be treated as submissions to MIND and, in exceptional
circumstances, more than one paper will be published. We aim, however,
to have only one winner of the prize.

Entrants to the Graduate Prize Essay Competition will normally be
undertaking graduate study. Those who have completed their
post-graduate education must not have done so more than two years
before the closing date. (Entrants can add any non-academic leave
taken - maternity, paternity, sickness, or care - on to the two
years). Entries should be prepared in line with the MIND guidelines
for submission. Please note, in particular, that essays should be no
longer than around 8,000 words.

Essays must be submitted electronically at the MIND submission site:
https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/MIND under the article type 'Graduate
Essay Prize'.

The closing date for receipt of entries is 31 December 2021.

Entries will be assessed by the Editors (A.W. Moore and Lucy O’Brien)
and appointed advisors. The winning entry will be published in MIND in
2022.
