As some of the teaching is in English, knowledge of Russian is optional. The salary scale for Associate Professors (Docents) is 180 372 RUB per month The undergraduate program at the St. Petersburg State University is very selective, with students being some of the best in the world. In particular, over the last five years, more winners of the all-Russian mathematical Olympiad joined our program than any other similar program in Russia. In addition, a graduate (master's) program has started in 2019, open both to Russian and international students. Graduate courses are taught in English. The well-known Chebyshev Laboratory ( http://chebyshev.spbu.ru/en/) is a part of our new Department. Applicants are expected to have a strong research record and to be able to teach in English. Appointees are expected to carry out research of high level, to teach well, and to perform customary administrative duties such as advising students, participating in committees, organizing admissions, etc. The teaching load is up to 8 academic hours (=6 astronomic hours) per week. Initial contract is normally signed for a period of up to five years, and can be renewed by further 5 year terms. The minimum requirements for the positions are as follows: - the degree of Ph. D. (foreign) or Cand. Sci. (Russian); - at least four refereed publications indexed simultaneously in MathSciNet and Scopus in 2014-2019; - at least three years of experience in research or teaching (excluding Ph.D. studies but including work on research projects/grants, even unpaid). All areas of mathematics and theoretical computer science will be considered, with preference given to candidates working in probability, mathematical physics, mathematical logic or theoretical computer science.
