I'm not in canonical/ubuntu, but the general concept from my short experience is: whatever you do, if the result benefits directly the loco team and helps to promote ubuntu, then do it. :-) Also, it's a good idea to post your actions and intentions in this mailing list, so you can always get the opinion of other loco representatives.
