Why would we want to set one worldwide date for such an event?
I think LoCoTeams should decide for themselves when is a good date for
them to organise something like this, maybe even combined with or just
before/after other local events or, just the opposite, when nothing else
is happening in their location. Picking the right moment might allow
some LoCoTeams to reduce costs, increase the number of participants, get
more press coverage, etc.
There are also several people (like me) who are active in multiple
LoCoTeams, and it's rather difficult to be physically present on
multiple places at the same time... ;-)
About the volunteers you ask for:
* Art / Marketing materials.
Why not ask the marketing and art teams instead of setting up our own
"LoCoTeam Art & Marketing Team"?
* Helping LoCo teams to organise their events for the Open Day.
This is particularly important.
Right, gathering and exchanging experience, tips, etc. is really
something we as LoCoTeam contacts should do (backed by our LoCoTeam
members!).
* Documentation writers to help document what happens on the
day.
What exactly do you mean by that? I think it's good to gather ideas,
experiences (both good and bad + conclusions!), tips, etc. that people
have in a central location, but writing formal documentation is not
desirable (yet) at this point.
