[ 61%] Linking CXX shared library ../../lib/libLTO.so
At this point the computer will (after several minutes) freeze, no mouse
movement, nothing. I don't experience this on any other application or build.

xubuntu 18
gcc 7.3
Core2 e8500
4GB ram
1.1GB swap file
